Childcare for the Tapestry Conference
Childcare for the Tapestry Conference will be provided by KidZone, a ministry of Irving Bible Church. Update regarding childcare: The response for childcare for the 2011 Tapestry Conference has already been tremendous. Because we are committed to providing the highest quality childcare during the conference, childcare is now FULL for children of all ages. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we hope that you will be able to arrange alternative childcare and still be able to join us for this year’s conference.
Safety & Security
At Irving Bible Church, the safety of your child is a high priority. For this reason, all classrooms use ibcLink for security.
All our teachers have been through an application process. Their teacher nametag tells you that they have completed the process. This process includes an extensive application, reference checks, a background check, and an interview.
Childcare check-in will begin at 8:45 am and children can go to their assigned classrooms beginning at 8:55 am. When you check your child in at the conference you will be asked to provide the last four digits of the phone number that you used when you register. You will then be provided with a name tag for your child and a corresponding pick-up tag. When you return to pick your child up you will need to present the pick-up tag to the teacher.
Food for Children
All children over the age of 2 will be provided the following snacks and lunch during the conference:
- Lunch – CiCi’s pizza and juice box
- Snacks – bananas, nilla wafers, pretzels, goldfish and water
If your child is under the age of 2 or if your child has any allergies or aversions to the above foods or beverages, please be sure to send appropriate snacks, lunch and/or beverages along with instructions (if necessary). Please note that Irving Bible Church’s children’s areas are peanut free, so we ask that you do not send any food items that contain peanuts or peanut butter.
Cost for the Tapestry Conference
The Tapestry Conference is completely free! We are passionate about providing people with resources, support, guidance, community, and hope surrounding their adoption and foster journeys. So, we’re very excited about being able to provide admission, childcare, breakfast, lunch, and a stack (literally) of resources at no cost.
Sound too good to be true? Well it’s not. But, you may be asking, “How can you do this for free?” Good question. Tapestry is a ministry of Irving Bible Church, so some of our funds come from the church, while others come from families who share our passion about adoption and foster care, and believe that local churches should play a unique and critical role in the lives of adoptive and foster families. If you have this same passion and want to help support our ministry financially so that we can continue to provide future events and opportunities to connect like this conference, please email us at tapestry@irvingbible.org. You will also have an opportunity to make a financial contribution at the Tapestry Conference – but of course there is no pressure to do so.
Cancellations
This is very important, so please read carefully. Because space at the conference is limited for both adults and children, it is very important that we receive any cancellations no later than one week before the conference date. This will allow us to offer the canceled space(s) to those on our waiting list and ensure that we do not incur unnecessary expenses. Cancellations after that date will result in “wasted” space and costs. Your cooperation with this cancellation policy will allow us to continue to offer quality events and conferences free of charge.
To cancel your registration (including your childcare registration) contact Amy Monroe at tapestry@irvingbible.org.
Training Credits for Foster Parents and Licensed Social Workers
Most foster and adoptive parents can count this conference toward their required continuing education training. At the end of the conference, we will provide certificates of attendance as documentation for your agency or CPS. If you have questions about whether your agency will give credit for the Tapestry Conference, please be sure to check with your agency in advance. In addition, CEU credits will be available for social workers licensed in Texas.
Conference Resources & Bookstore
Once again this year we will be recording audio from most of the breakout sessions this year, and at the end of the day you will be able to purchase CDs of these session recordings for a modest cost.
In addition, this year’s Tapestry Conference will feature a bookstore where attendees will be able to purchase books and resources highlighted throughout the course of the conference.
The Tapestry Conference is open to the public.
- You do not need to be a member of IBC or even attend there.
- You do not need to be an adoptive or foster parent.
- You do not need to be a Christian or even a church-going person.
